Through a collaboration which began in 2002, the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra presents contemporary chamber music inspired by the art on view and performed live in the galleries at the Pulitzer Arts Foundation. The music selected for this extraordinary concert series takes advantage of the acoustic qualities of the Pulitzer’s Tadao Ando-designed building, one of the most celebrated examples of contemporary museum architecture in the country. St. Louis Symphony Music Director David Robertson led the program until 2016, developing a concert series which presented wide variety of musical expression from composers of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. The collaboration continues with the 2017-2018 season of St. Louis Symphony Live at the Pulitzer led by co-artistic directors Peter Henderson, pianist and faculty at Maryville University, and Gemma New, Resident Conductor at the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and Director of the St. Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra.
